Marangoni Partners With Leader Tread in South Africa
Marangoni Retreading Systems is venturing into new commercial ground after establishing a cooperation agreement with Marathon, part of the Leader Rubber group in South Africa. According to the retreading systems manufacturer, partnering with Marathon opens the door to two million unit-strong South African new tyre/retread market. Marangoni Retreading Systems and Marathon expect to complete South African market penetration by the end of 2011.
The agreement see Marathon provide the distribution platform and sales support to partners producing retreads with the Ringtread system, which is seen as a quality and cost saving response to the price-based market made up largely of Far Eastern products.
South African hauliers are currently supplied by four retread production sites in the area – two in Johannesburg, one in Pretoria and one in Pietermaritzburg, near Durban.
Roberto Santorum, Marangoni Retreading Systems Regional sales executive manager, stated: “Ringtread’s presence in the South African market will be guaranteed by supplying right products and equipment. Intense training programs for the sales force at each individual organisation have been planned for 2010,” echoed Danilo Pasotti, Marangoni Retreading Systems business development executive manager.
At the company’s recent inaugural dealer conference the Marangoni promoted the concept of Total Tyre Life Cycle Management, explaining the sales support programs, and once again, stressing the benefits of using rings and ring technology.
The success of the conference was above all due to the desire of Ringtread retreaders to adopt a more organised approach to the market, so as to better exploit all the opportunities that such an exclusive product as the RINGTREAD offers: hauliers are currently looking for high quality products that can replace new tyres.
According to the two companies, South African customers who have tried the rings have been very impressed the reportedly higher performance in certain applications of Ringtreads compared to new tyres. Indeed, tests carried out with customers are said to show that rings improve the mileage of leading brands and go considerably beyond the kilometres travelled by Asian tyres.
