Hawleys Celebrates Centenary
During June, Sheffield-based tyre distributor Hawleys Tyres is celebrating its centenary. Seven months after Pirelli, in association with Tyres & Accessories, recognised the firm as the nation’s longest established tyre dealership, Hawleys reports that it is celebrating “selling and repairing tyres longer than any other family-owned company in Britain.”
Having started out with one branch in 1910, Hawley’s now has five branches in Sheffield, 50 staff, and an annual turnover of £4.5 million. Current managing director Martin Hawley is the third generation of his family to run the business. He took over from his father, Reg, and when Martin retires, his son Simon will be in charge, alongside his cousin Tim (son of Martin’s brother, David). So, if she was to do such a thing, who do think the Queen will be sending the centenary cards to?
