Chinese Natural Rubber Plantation Area Grew in 2009

According statistics released by China’s Natural Rubber Association, the total area of rubber plantation land in the People’s Republic amounts to 1463 mu (98 hectares) up 65 mu (4.35 hectares) in 2009.

Annual natural rubber production is said to have reached 644,000 tons, up 13.6 per cent. Natural rubber imports reportedly totalled 1.71 million tons, up 17 per cent. ASEAN nations (including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Burma) are currently the main importers of natural rubber into China. Last year total imports from these five countries accounted for 98.2 per cent of annual production.
