Sava Range Offers Performance in the Cold
Slovenian manufacturer Sava has added a high performance range to its winter tyre portfolio. Known as the eskimo hp, this lower-case titled tyre is described by Sava as a “high-performance winter tyre that offers excellent handling performance in difficult winter conditions as well as good mileage levels to the cost-conscious passenger car driver.” The eskimo hp is available in 23 sizes fitting most passenger car models and features a directional tread design optimised for winter conditions plus optimized plus a full silica compound. The Sava eskimo hp features the snowflake symbol on its sidewall, certifying that it meets the required performance levels of winter testing.
“The new Sava eskimo hp offers excellent performance in a wide variety of winter weather conditions and has thus been awarded the ‘snowflake symbol’, which certifies it as a true winter tyre”, said Klepper.
The eskimo hp, says Sava, features a sharp directional winter tread design that offers optimised tread stiffness distribution through FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools. A multi-radius cavity design and interlocking blades are intended to offer strong snow traction and handling. The tyre features a high performance tyre construction and a monoply carcass; these qualities, says the Slovenian tyre maker, enable it to deliver good high performance handling, even in winter. Furthermore, Sava reports that through the combination of a full silica compound, multi radius cavity shape and optimised tread design, the eskimo hp also delivers good levels of mileage.
This winter product complements Sava’s summer performance tyre range, the intensa uhp. Introduced last year, the intensa uhp is designed to provide good handling performance in both wet and dry conditions, along with reduced rolling resistance.
Performance in the dry, says Sava, is aided by the tyre’s large centre rib, stiff outside shoulder block and wide cavity shape intended to improve pressure distribution during cornering. All this adds up to more precise steering and accurate cornering abilities, the manufacturer explains. A silica compound “significantly enhances” the intensa uhp’s traction in wet conditions, adds Sava, and wide circumferential grooves assist with water dispersion.
Sava states that the intensa uhp features a lightweight construction and carcass made of low rolling resistance materials, which together with its full silica tread compound allows the tyre to deliver “excellent fuel consumption levels”. The tread pattern is designed with an optimised pitch sequence and features narrow lateral shoulder grooves that control noise energy distribution – this, says Sava, reduces the pattern noise level significantly.
“The new Sava intensa uhp offers an excellent dry handling performance and lower fuel consumption levels. Sporty drivers who are looking for inexpensive ultra high performance tyres will no doubt appreciate the Sava intensa uhp’s European quality”, said Alain Klepper, brand director for Sava in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The Sava intensa uhp is available in 28 sizes between 16 and 20-inches.
