Yokohama Philippines Receives 2nd CDC Award
For the second year in a row, Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. (YTPI) has received an Outstanding Recognition for Overall Performance award from Clark Development Corporation (CDC). YPTI president Takayuki Hamaya received the award from Philippines president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during a ceremony held on April 21.
CDC is the administrator of the Clark Special Economic Zone and evaluated YTPI for its contribution to the zone in terms of investment, employment, environment-conscious management and worker safety/health. The award, says Yokohama is part of a programme to publicly recognise companies within the Clark Special Economic Zone (located north of Manila on Luzon Island) that have demonstrated excellent management skills and contributed to the zone’s development. After CDC screened 46 candidate companies, six companies including YTPI received the Outstanding Recognition for Overall Performance award. In addition, 11 other companies received special awards for Outstanding Environment and Health Management, Outstanding Investment Performance, Outstanding Employment and Human Resource Management Performance, and Outstanding New Investor.
Established in 1996, YTPI manufactures and distributes passenger-car tyres within the Philippines, and was the first international company entering the Clark Special Economic Zone. YTPI currently employs approximately 1,700 people.
