Guangdong Greatoo Expanding Mould Production
Despite the effects of the global recession, Guangdong Greatoo Molds Inc is planning to increase its Chinese mould making capacity to 5000 moulds and 3000 containers by the end of 2010, up 25 and 20 per cent respectively from current levels of 4000 moulds and 2500. In order to do this, the company is adding “lots of direct engraving machines in our new plant and these machines are state of the art thus reducing the machining time substantially” in addition to the firm’s existing plans for 200 hydraulic curing presses and CNC machines, according to company representatives.
“We intend to focus automation in manufacturing to improve productivity and develop new technology in manufacturing to support the tyre industry and we are therefore adding expertise in these areas,” senior technical consultant RNK Krishnan told Tyres & Accessories.
In addition to the company’s major markets of Asia, Europe (somewhere Greatoo experienced particular growth in 2009) and China, the mould maker also reports “good growth” following strong demand from India and Brazil. Looking forward, the company expects further good demand in China this year on the back of increased demand for tyres from the automobile industry in light of the ongoing boom in the domestic market.
