Goodyear Promotes Cavanaugh and Jambon
Pierre Jambon has been appointed vice president of Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s off-highway business. In his new role, Jambon will run Goodyear's global aviation and off-the-road businesses as well as its North American racing and motorcycle/ATV businesses. He will report to Curt Andersson, president of the company’s North American Tire operation. Jambon takes the place of John Cavanaugh, who has now stepped into the role of vice president of finance for global procurement. In that role, he will report to vice president and chief procurement officer Mark Purtilar and executive vice president and chief financial officer Darren Wells. Cavanaugh had been vice president, off highway, since September 2008.
Since October 2006, Jambon served as general manager, global aviation, overseeing the development, manufacture and marketing of aviation tyres for use as original equipment, replacement and military applications. His successor in this role will be announced later. Jambon, 50, has worked at Goodyear since December 2003 and extensive previous experience in general management and corporate finance and analysis. Prior to coming to Goodyear, he was vice president, finance planning and analysis for GKN Aerospace Services, where he was responsible for the company’s operating planning process and evaluation of its business performance. Jambon received his undergraduate degree in business administration from Arizona State University, and his MBA from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Cavanaugh, 39, came to Goodyear in July 2003 as director, financial strategy and served in that role for seven months before being named assistant treasurer. In December 2006, he became financial director of the off-highway business. He increased his experience in this business unit by serving as director, racing operations, from June 2007 through January 2008. Since then, Cavanaugh was financial director, commercial tire systems, North American Tire, until taking his recent off-highway role. Prior to joining Goodyear, Cavanaugh worked in various financial capacities at Visteon Corporation and Kmart Corporation. He also spent more than four years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He earned his undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Notre Dame (1992 and 1998) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
