Cooper Increases Longevity, Decreases Noise with New CS2 PCR Tyre
Cooper Tire has launched a new product for small and medium sized family cars, which it claims boasts a reduction in road noise and a longer lifespan than its predecessor. The company states that it has used the latest pitch sequencing technology to create the Cooper CS2, a step to reduce the tyre’s noise levels and provide the quiet running required by the latest EU legislation (otherwise known as s-marking).
The tread pattern of the CS2 includes three circumferential grooves to improve the tyre’s resistance to aquaplaning. The American manufacturer says the tread pattern will also help to improve the aesthetics of the tyre, which the company hopes will entice customers. A broad outer shoulder enhances the tyre’s steering response and handling in the dry, whilst open inner shoulders do the same in the wet. The CS2 has clearly been designed with the upcoming standardised labelling system in mind, since EU legislation will require tyres to show a rating for wet grip as well as noise.
Cooper says the CS2 will also last longer than rivals and that it should be considered one of the new wave of “greener tyres” made using more environmentally-friendly methods. Available now, the T rated CS2 has fitments for a wide range of small to medium sized family cars between 13 and 15-inch rim diameters.
