Celebrities Roll on BFGoodrich Tyres
Launched in 2009, BFGoodrich’s Mud-Terrain KM2 proved to be an excellent brand on which to learn new off-road skills when a 4×4 neophyte from Tyres & Accessories tried out the rubber in muddy Warwickshire countryside (see Related News). Now, TV chef Richard Fox and actor Neil Morrissey have used the product to hone their skills with off road driving experts Yorkshire 4×4 in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, in preparation for their next TV adventure heading out to Africa for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Yorkshire 4×4 delivered the training using the newest addition to their fleet, a 2010 110 TDCI Land Rover Defender, which was fitted with BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tyres to replace the original equipment road-biased tyres.
Yorkshire 4×4 director Craig Elsworth said: “I was very impressed with how both drivers took up the challenge and applied good technique throughout the day, our training facility here has some of the most extreme terrain in the country and the duo coped extremely well, thanks in no uncertain terms to the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tyres.
“We created a bespoke training package that included advanced driving techniques that will be essential to safely and successfully cross the hazardous terrain of Africa. Richard and Neil both said that they had learned huge amounts during their time with us and that they felt more confident about the challenges that lay ahead.”
The whole Yorkshire 4×4 team have been “extremely impressed” with both the vehicle and the tyres since their arrival and particularly the overall performance characteristics of the new KM2s. Senior instructor, 80 year old off-road driving legend, Geoff Watkin said of the tyres: “I have always been a fan of the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tyres. We place huge demands on our training and activity vehicles and this requires us to fit tyres that offer excellent off-road performance combined with good on-road handling. The KM2s deliver strong performance on both fronts.
“We look forward to evaluating the durability and if the new tyre only matches the original then I think BFGoodrich has a real winner with the new KM2s.”
