Capacity Boost at Bridgestone Poznan Plant Announced
Bridgestone has outlined plans to invest 105 million euros increasing the capacity of its Poznan tyre factory in Poland. The added capacity will begin to come on-stream in January 2012 and over a two-year period daily output will rise from 23,600 to 29,200 units.
The 190,000 square metre plant opened in July 1998 and production at the site has focused upon passenger car tyres. Bridgestone says its decision to increase capacity in Poznan has been swayed by demand for high-end products such as UHP tyres and its third generation of run-flats, and the Japanese manufacturer anticipates sales of these to increase in the long-term despite the difficult market conditions experienced last year.
