Avon’s Lewis Appointed MD of Cooper International Trading Company

Nigel Lewis, currently purchasing director for Avon Tyres in Melksham, will as of June 1 take on the role of managing director of Cooper Tire International Trading Company in Singapore. In this capacity he will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Singapore buying office and procurement of natural rubber.

Lewis joined Avon Tyres in 1971, taking on various roles on the shop floor and in the planning, procurement and material control departments before being named purchasing director for the Melksham facility in 2002. His purchasing experience, in particular with raw materials and natural rubber, spans more than 20 years. “Nigel has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the procurement field during his combined career with Avon Tyres and Cooper, which has effectively prepared him to successfully lead this critical area of the business,” said Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Procurement vice president Jim Keller.
