SRT Reports 8.1 Million Tyres Produced in 2009
Sibur-Russian Tyres reports producing a total of 8.1 million tyres during 2009, including 5.4 million passenger car and light commercial vehicle tyres, 2.4 million commercial vehicle tyres and 300,000 other sorts of tyres (such as aviation and motorcycle tyres). The company plans to increase production by 14 per cent during 2010.
The company says it has maintained an upward trend in the proportion of higher-margin branded manufactured; in 2009 these amounted to 30 per cent of the total, up from 26 per cent in 2008. Exports accounted for approximately 20 per cent of sales, as opposed to 18 per cent in 2008. The company invested 1.5 billion roubles during 2009 in a number of projects, including creating capacity to produce 650,000 all-steel tyres.
In 2009, the consolidated revenues of the Holding Company amounted to 20.1 billion roubles. Sibur Russian-Tyres director Vadim Gurinov commented that “the company was able to maintain and enhance its position as Russia’s leading tyre manufacturer during severe crisis conditions.” He added that in 2010 the tyre maker will continue to work towards consolidating its position in the Russian tyre market and introduce new technology and products there, including all-steel radial commercial vehicle tyres.
