Goodyear EfficentGrip Receives Low Rolling Resistance Treatment
“As a company, we lead the industry with forward-looking tyre technologies that contribute to greater road safety and reduce the impact on the environment.” These words of confidence came from Goodyear Dunlop Tires Europe president Arthur de Bok, who was commenting on the company’s presence at the Geneva Motor Show and the innovations the company is highlighting there.
One of these is a prototype low rolling resistance version of the EfficientGrip specifically engineered for electric vehicles, a tyre Goodyear says combines top-rated energy efficiency, excellent noise and wet braking performance levels with the company’s latest generation of ‘RunOnFlat’ technology. “This is a revolutionary tyre with ultra low rolling resistance, specifically designed for electric vehicles. Later on, the technology will also be used for more conventional vehicles,” stated Philippe Degeer, vice president of Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations.
“So what does this product deliver in terms of performance?” was the rhetorical question Degeer posed to press at the Geneva show. “Well, ladies and gentlemen, the results are absolutely impressive. The product delivers top notch performance when it comes to energy saving, excellent noise levels and outstanding wet braking.” In the context of European Commission tyre labelling, Degeer stated: “Given the current methodology for ratings, this product…would earn an “A” rating on rolling resistance, would earn at least a “B” rating on wet grip and would earn 71 decibel in the noise rating. So this really would be at the top of the range for all the criteria.”
