Goodyear Dunlop Signs Cemex Deal
Cemex UK has switched to Goodyear Dunlop and its TruckForce network. The agreement means Goodyear Dunlop will now supply and service Cemex tyre requirements.
The diverse nature of the Cemex product range means that the company has a wide range of specific freight requirements with bespoke vehicle designs in their truck fleet. For example, the trucks designed to carry Cemex’s aggregate material on and off-road will use Dunlop SP382 tyres on the steer axle. This tyre has a special top belt to minimize the risk of stone penetration – a typical hazard in this industry. However, the Cement distribution fleet will use Goodyear Regional RHS11 tyres which are optimized for maximum mileage and efficiency for predominantly on-road use.
Both types of vehicles will use ‘Next Tread’ tyres from the Goodyear Dunlop retread factory in Wolverhampton on trailer and drive axles. These premium quality retreads use the same design of tread as the well-proven Goodyear and Dunlop ranges.
The nationwide TruckForce network will service the Goodyear and Dunlop tyres fitted to the Cemex fleet. According to the company, TruckForce is the only manufacturer-owned tyre service network that is “100 per cent dedicated to commercial vehicles” and it was this combination of high technology product and dedicated service support that is said to have convinced Cemex.
Graham Russell, VP Commercial, Logistics and Building Products at CEMEX UK, stated: “Our vehicles operate in tough environments with demanding terrain. Therefore, premium quality, durable tyres are critical to keep our fleet moving effectively. We need to ensure on-time delivery to our customers across the country, and the nationwide support of the TruckForce network gives us the service levels and peace of mind that we need.”
