CES UK Launches Chassis Safety Events
Regarding braking as one part of the triumvirate of chassis safety, car parts, garage equipment and training provider, CES UK has launched a series of events at educational facilities located close to its branch network across the UK. CES has a “Safety Triangle” logo illustrating this point, with the three ‘s’-es of stopping steering and stability emblazoned on each of the shapes sides. The events, in the words of CES, “will be looking at the safety critical systems within the chassis systems and exploring the results of component failure, duty of care, changes in technology and garages profit opportunities.”
The company also promises vehicle demonstrations from suppliers including Delphi, Bosch and Monroe. The events are supported by the IMI as CPD qualifying events, covering: on-vehicle technical demonstrations, understanding duty of care, profit opportunity within this range, new technology such as the Electro Hydraulic Braking Hybrid System. The evenings will also provide nightly special offers on equipment, tools and accessories and refreshments.
Llandrillo Coleg, Rhyl was the first host to the CES (UK) chassis event at the end of February. The college is in the heats for the World Skills Awards and welcomed the technical input from CES on chassis. The company’s leading emissions programme – providing next day nationwide delivery for DPFs, cats, turbos, exhausts and sensors – is delivered by 17 local branches offering a full range of components backed with high level technical expertise.
In Rhyl Steve McCann, CES trading director, fronted the chassis technical presentation. Working with leading OE manufacturers, McCann demonstrated the importance of the foundation components of the chassis system and their electronic and technical evolvement to an 80-strong audience.
Alignment, steering, braking, suspension, servicing via electronics and future technologies were presented and then backed up with demonstrations. It was a Continuous Professional Development event for the IMI, supported by, and raising funds for the charity BRAKE.
Whilst exploring duty of care and best practice on braking and suspension parts, the demonstration moved on to the implications for components on Forward Collision Warning and Electro Hydraulic Braking. The new technology in the Monroe and Delphi magneto-rheological (MR) fluid-based dampers was also on display.
“We were delighted with the response from our customers,” stated CES representatives. “Our supplier partners showcased the chassis technology in some depth and Llandrillo Coleg have provided their support and a fantastic venue.”
