Canada Looking at Truck Tyre Fuel Efficiency Labels
Natural Resources Canada is surveying Canadian truck fleets about their tyre habits, reports Tire Review, and the result may result in fuel efficiency labelling of truck tyres in that country. The government department is conducting an online study until March 31, and the Canadian Trucking Alliance has publicly asked truck fleets to cooperate.
The anonymous survey asks fleets and owner-operators about how they buy their tyres – for both tractors and trailers – the features they look for, their feelings about super wide tyres and retreads, tyre management and purchasing, tyre maintenance, how and where they get information about tyres, as well as standard census-type questions about the size of their fleets, brands of tyres they buy, type of fleet they operate, and about their knowledge of the US EPA’s SmartWay programme.
No timetable has been set assessing or instituting any labelling programme.
