Cam Systems Moves to Address Tyre Industry Training Dearth
Cam Systems has said that it wants to increase training and personal development in the tyre and fast fit industry. The IT applications provider, whose Cameo suite is used by over 2,000 tyre business employees is responding to a report by Profit From Training, an organisation set up in 1996 to provide training to the tyre and fast fit industry, which has observed a decrease in industry training over the past two years – at approximately 12 per cent in year one and a further 16 per cent in year two. In previous years, training had gone up on average by 6-8 per cent each year.
Cam Systems says it places a high degree of importance on training and recognises the benefits organisations enjoy from the training it offers. One such client is NETE, which recently completed a training course held by Cam Systems to help improve internal IT skills in preparation for the integration of 15 new depots into the company. According to the company, this enabled the staff to develop a deeper understanding of the new Cameo IT systems being put in place by Cam Systems, while raising standards within the organisation.
The Cam training courses were run in a classroom environment and each trainee was given a laptop to practice at their own pace. A course manual was provided by Cam and Cameo data was set up with exercises to ensure all trainees received a complete introduction to the product.
Mike Allen, managing director of Cam Systems, says: “We value staff development and training within our industry and call on business owners to revisit the importance of personal development for their staff. While the economy is still suffering it has never been of greater importance to ensure businesses are performing at the best level they can.”
Dan Darcy, IT Manager at NETE, adds: “We wanted to equip our staff with the skills, particularly IT knowledge, to ensure the smooth integration of the new depots into the company. Cam Systems has assisted the expansion of our company and has provided an outstanding level of service on an ongoing basis – including the recent training sessions.”
