Kwik-Fit Fleet Awarded 300,000 Vehicle Lex Autolease Contract
Two of Britain’s largest suppliers to the nation’s company car and van market, Kwik-Fit Fleet and Lex Autolease, have signed what Kwik-Fit believes to be the most valuable fast-fit deal in UK fleet industry history. The three-year solus contract, estimated to be worth at least £150 million over its duration, will see Kwik-Fit Fleet supply and manage all tyre repair and replacement plus deliver a range of ancillary services, including vehicle servicing and MoTs, to the Lex Autolease fleet of more than 300,000 vehicles. The fast-fit provider won the contract, which goes live on March 1, in a competitive tender.
Lex Autolease, said to be the UK’s largest leasing and fleet management company, was formed last year following the merger of Lex and Lloyds TSB Autolease. Kwik-Fit Fleet has operated a solus arrangement for the supply of a wide range of services, including the supply and online management of all tyre replacement, with Lex since 1997. In addition, Kwik-Fit Fleet previously supplied a range of services to Lloyds TSB Autolease.
“We believe the new contract with Lex Autolease, which will run into 2013, is the largest and most significant fast-fit deal in the history of the UK fast-fit industry,” stated Mike Wise, head of Kwik-Fit Fleet. “Crucial to our success is the fact that Kwik-Fit is investing in its High Street centres at a time when some of our rivals are shrinking the size of their networks. In addition, our continued investment in a modern fleet of mobile units means that many company car and van drivers will have tyre repair and replacement work carried out at their location of choice thus aiding convenience.
“Additionally, the business partnership that we have built up with Lex over many years and their use of a wide range of our services – particularly in relation to our centres undertaking an increasing volume of mechanical repairs and servicing work on their company cars and vans – was crucial in securing the contract,” Wise continued.
Andy Hartley, head of Third Party Supply, Lex Autolease, added: “Kwik-Fit has a strong mobile fitting network that allows it to deliver first class customer service, both in branch, and at remote locations for all of our customers. Kwik-Fit’s ability to undertake MoT inspections and some standard maintenance work on vehicles at the same time as replacing worn tyres allows us to provide a more flexible service for our customers.”
