Goodyear Eagle Rubber Chosen for 2011 Mustang
Goodyear has announced that customers choosing Optional Performance Package on the recently unveiled 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will receive its Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 UHP tyres as standard fitment. The tyre, tested on some of the most renowned road courses in North America, appears on the new Mustang this year in sizes P265/40ZR19 and P285/35ZR20.
“The new Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 is positioned as a race-inspired, ultra-high performance dry traction tyre for select super cars,” commented Bob Toth, Goodyear’s director of new products. “With a left-side, right-side specific tread design, it offers superb dry traction and precise handling, complementing both the performance and appearance of sports cars.”
The Eagle F1 SuperCar G:2 features an asymmetric, directional tread design with massive tread blocks on the outboard shoulder designed to help enhance dry cornering grip. Sweeping Aquachannel grooves on the inboard side of the tread are also intended to help enhance wet cornering grip. A multi-radius mould shape, Goodyear reports, helps to offer precise handling and smooth, even wear.
