Eco and Safety Focus for Bridgestone in Geneva
Bridgestone Europe reports the company’s presence at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show will centre upon Bridgestone’s long-term safety and environmental protection strategy. The 210 square metre stand (no. 2143 in Hall 2, for those of you planning a visit) will throw the spotlight on the Ecopia range – a product that, incidentally, derives it name from a combination of the words ‘ecology’ and ‘utopia’ – and feature no less than four key Ecopia products.
The range of fuel-efficient tyres for European customers include Bridgestone’s new trademarked NanoPro-Tech compound, formulated to lower rolling resistance, combined with a connected block and thin-rib design intended to deliver superior wet performance. This technology, Bridgestone reports, has now been extended to sports and general-use tyres, bringing the ecological benefits of Ecopia tyres to all types and sizes of cars. Demonstrating this range of coverage, the Bridgestone stand will be dominated by the presence of two cars – a Smart ForTwo city car and a Mercedes S-Class Hybrid luxury saloon, both fitted with Bridgestone Ecopia tyres – the B250 Ecopia and Potenza RE050 Ecopia respectively.
Another highlight on the stand is the premiere of the Potenza S001, the company’s latest UHP tyre for top sports cars and high-powered luxury vehicles. Reporting on its new tyre, Bridgestone comments: “Reliving the motor-sport heritage of Potenza tyres, the S001 is designed to give the world’s most powerful sports models unbeatable response and precision combined with a reduced level of rolling resistance.” Also on display will be the core range of Bridgestone Summer road tyres for passenger cars and 4×4’s, including new third-generation Run Flat tyres designed to offer ride comfort comparable to conventional tyres.
