Continental RoadAttack Bike Tyre Sequel Available Now Through Cambrian Tyres

Distributor Cambrian Tyres has announced that it has introduced the ready to ride Continental RoadAttack 2 to its range. The latest bike product from the German tyre manufacturer is its first tyre to offer complete riding safety as soon as it is fitted, according to Conti. The ContiRoadAttack 2 is available now from Cambrian Tyres, coinciding with the start of the 2010 season. Continental will be producing the tyre in six front sizes and seven for the rear (see below). Approvals have already been obtained for over 250 bikes (from manufacturers including BMW, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha).

Continental’s research and development engineers in Germany say they have produced an advanced tyre to achieve superior performance and greater wet weather capability than its popular predecessor. As a result of the new design measures employed, handling and mileage has also been increased.

These results were achieved through a range of developments. Continental’s Traction Skin Technology, for example, produces “micro-roughness in the tread, optimising the mechanical adhesion to the road”, according to the manufacturer.  The Traction Skin technology helps the ContiRoadAttack 2 to warm up quicker, thus increasing its safety, and making it ready to ride in practice.

The new tyre also offers further safety benefits on sports and sports touring bikes, thanks what the manufacturer terms “Continuous Compound Technology”, which is designed to improve mileage through a wear resistant zenith area and increase safety whilst cornering with a higher grip area around the shoulder. The use of Black Chili, one of Conti’s compounds, means faster warm-up times, something that is important for grip, especially on wet roads.

The tyre structure was also redesigned to achieve greater riding dynamics and grip. Dynamic Ride Technology, comprising a patented steel belt construction and contour, has been developed to improve motorcycle handling and control.
