Stack Shows off “Groundbreaking” Battery-Free TPMS
Present at the Autosport International Engineering Show, Oxfordshire company Stack displayed its battery-free TPMS systems, which it believes “completely redefines tyre pressure monitoring in motorsport”. Based on patented SAW sensor technology, the company says problems associated with mounting batteries and complicated electronics in sensors on wheels eliminated.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary Stack developed the system in-house at its Bicester, UK headquarters. The company says it is already proving popular. “A Tyre Pressure (and Temperature) Monitoring System is a proven performance enhancer. The right tyre pressures deliver consistent performance advantages in all levels of motorsport,” said Stack’s managing director, Alan Rock.
Stack says its system contains the smallest TPMS sensor on the market, at 18mm diameter x 14mm depth (excluding the valve stem). It weighs 10g. The flexible system supports a virtually unlimited number of wheel sets with just one module interrogating 1, 2 or 4 wheels – making it suitable for cars, trucks and bikes. CAN-bus output of pressures and temperatures allows easy integration with existing data-logging systems.
