Record Attendance at December’s Automechanika Shanghai Reported
December’s Automechanika Shanghai exhibition attracted more exhibitors and visitors than ever, its organisers report. Between December 9 and 11 the fifth Automechanika show staged in Shanghai was home to 2,414 exhibitors, 22 per cent more than in 2008, and visitor numbers leapt 25 per cent to 38,551, with visitors from 132 countries present at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. International visitors represented 29 per cent of the total attendance figure, compared to 16 per cent at the previous show.
“We are very happy with this remarkable result,” commented Jason Cao, general manager of show organiser Messe Frankfurt Shanghai. “Despite the global economic slowdown, the show continues to gain momentum and we have set new records for exhibitor and visitor numbers. In addition, the show is establishing itself as both a major domestic and international event. This can be seen from our diverse range of visitor countries. As well as visitors from the traditional continents of Europe, Asia and North America, we have seen visitors from 35 new countries.”
In 2010, Automechanika Shanghai will gain an extra day and become a four-day event, running between December 8 and 11, 2010. “As the show is becoming bigger and bigger, we see the need for an extra show day. We also received feedback from exhibitors and visitors who wanted to extend the show by one day to further maximise their benefits and opportunities,” Cao explains.
