Pirelli Historic Rally Gets “New Look” Following Competitor Feedback
Feedback gained from competitors in previous events has led to changes been made for the 2010 Pirelli Historic Rally. The organiser of the Pirelli sponsored event, the Cumberland Sporting Car Club, states the “radical shake-up” it is bringing to the format will give it a “totally new look” when it is held on April 24.
The MSA Dunlop/Gambia British Historic Championship round will run as a one day event. The loop previously held the Friday evening beforehand has been dropped, as have the stages in the Kershope Forest complex. The entire rally will now be run over the smooth, fast flowing roads in Kielder Forest, with no double usage of any of the stages. In addition, to cut down on “away from home time”, and to assist competitors travelling to Carlisle from a distance, scrutineering times have been rescheduled to the late afternoon and evening of the day prior to the rally.
“We have visited several rounds of the championship, spoken to numerous competitors, listened to their views and have come up with the format of event they have requested,” commented a spokesman for Cumberland Sporting Car. “I am sure that the regular championship contenders will find the changes to their liking.”
