New Touchless Alloy Wheel Measuring Machine
At the beginning of November, the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, IFF, Magdeburg in Germany and the Ascona Company, Meckenbeuren, invited leading wheel industry representative to the launch of a new touchless alloy wheel measuring machine. What’s different about the new equipment it that the new 3D laser wheel measuring machine makes possible for the first time the contactless measuring of light metal wheels directly in the production sequence.
Walter Anton, technical director and authorized signatory of the Borbet Group, Hallenberg, Germany was quoted as saying: “The Ascona Wheel Inspector can be bought blindfolded.”
“The Wheel Inspector closes a large gap between the needs of the market and the previous solutions”, Albert Schweser, general manager at Ascona commented, adding: “Thanks to the competence of the development team under the leadership of Dr. Jan Lugtenburg, JBL Consulting, Aalen, Germany and Dr.-Engr. Dirk Berndt, Business Unit Manager at IFF, the demand for reliable methods of wheel testing in the automobile industry can now be satisfied.”
Established in 1988, Ascona, winner of innovation prizes in 2007 and 2008 and with more than 200 installed systems, is recognised for technical measurement solution in the areas of aluminium, plastic and rubber.
