MAI Bringing Minextra Range to Tyrexpo Africa

When Italian company MAI International arrives at Tyrexpo Africa, pride of place on the company’s stand will be its new “Minextra” range of mining tyres. This range includes the L5 and L5S. The L5 features a traction profile for increased grip and a deep tread for protection against cuts and impact damage. The compound used in the L5, MAI International adds, is a cut resistant compound particularly suited to use in underground mines. The sidewall, shoulders and beads have also been reinforced for increased protection and stability. Furthermore, says MAI, built in heavy-duty sidewall fenders offer increased protection against cuts and abrasions. The L5S features a smooth profile, yet also features the deep tread, reinforced sidewall, shoulders and beads, and sidewall fenders found on the L5 for protection against cuts and impact damage.

In addition, MAI International manufactures the Maxam radial OTR range, a line-up the company says is finding great favour in many parts of the world as a viable alternative to mainstream sources of supply of tyres for OTR machinery. MAI reports that much research and development time went into the range’s development; furthermore, the company says, the Chinese manufactured range features the best possible compounds and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes to ensure optimum tyre performance and extended life. The end product, MAI continues, is a tyre that wears evenly and delivers lower costs per kilometre and therefore reduced overall machine operating costs. In addition, Maxam casings are remouldable should they remain in suitable condition.

The Maxam line-up is available in numerous sizes, including 17.5R25, 20.5R25, 23.5R25, 26.5R25 and 29.5R25 in E4/L3 for loader and ADT use. Also available are several new products launched for 2010, including E4 in18:00R33, 21:00R35 & 2400R35, L5 & L5S in 17.5R25, 20.5R25, 23.5R25, 26.5R25 and 29.5R25. Due for launch this year is a range of E-Marked High Speed Crane tyres. The first of these due for release are sizes 445/95R25 (1600R25) & 525/80R25 (20.5R25).
