Lawlyn Offering a Full Range of Repair Systems
Lawlyn Vulcanising Systems manufactures a complete range of Lawlyn brand truck, tractor, grader and OTR repair systems. These items, manufactured at the South African company’s site in Alberton, south of Johannesburg, are used daily in the repair of tyres at the company’s Hlanganani Tyres subsidiary, an operation that has a number work stations working to the newly gazetted South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) approved OTR Repair and Retreading Standard.
Lawrence and Lyn Gomez, the owners of both Lawlyn Vulcanising Systems and Hlanganani Tyres, are respected figures in South Africa’s OTR Repair and Retreading business and Lawrence is constantly sought after for his expertise gained over a period of more than four decades. During these years he worked in and helped build a number of OTR retreading plants that are still in operation today, before venturing into the repair only side of these giant tyres.
The company boasts a staff of just over 30 people, who are said to work “as a well oiled team doing their best to stick to the strict standards insisted on by Lawrence and his foreman John Nyovane.” Danny Kirsten joined Lawrence in April of 2009. Between them, Kirsten and the two owners have more than 120 years of experience in the retreading, consumables and tyre repair business under their belts.
A new addition to the business is hands on training for OTR Repair persons to the SABS Standard as mentioned above. Trainees are taken from A to Z over a five-day period before completing a written exam, in which a minimum pass rate of no less than 80 per cent is expected. Upon the successful completion of the exam trainees are issued with a certificate as a competent repairer.
The company is supporting the local show – Lawlyn Vulcanising Systems invites you to visit the company on stand B13 at Tyrexpo Africa 2010.
