ATS Euromaster Buys 44 New Mobile Tyre Fitting Vans
ATS Euromaster has taken delivery of 44 new 3.5 tonne Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, after investing £1.7 million in increasing the size of its car fitting by roughly 25 per cent. According to the company, the new vehicles will be used to support “the increased demand for mobile fitments which has been driven primarily by the FN50 [top 50 UK contract hire and leasing companies]”, a sector in which ATS Euromaster has reportedly increased its share from 18 to 28 per cent over the last 18 months.
A mix of fleet additions and replacements, the new long wheelbase Sprinters see the dedicated ‘car’ fleet grow to 128 units, supported by a further 200 dual-purpose mobiles which are equipped to fit both car and commercial vehicle tyres.
Steve Bury, Head of National Car at ATS Euromaster, said: “We have transitioned our fleet car business to a much stronger mobile strategy, following increasing demand from our customers to fit tyres at their home or place of work. We typically find that once a customer has experienced the convenience of a mobile fitment, they request the service every time.
“As a result our fleet needs to grow to meet this demand, with this latest investment ensuring we can continue to provide the largest mobile offering of any fast-fit provider in the UK, with 328 vans equipped to fit car tyres,” he adds.
Each of the new Sprinters is fitted with adjustable internal racking to securely store tyres and tooling, together with new 24 volt electric compressors which enable technicians to run the compressor for up to 45 minutes without the vehicle’s engine running. Additional equipment includes an air-driven fitting machine capable of handling up to 24-inch wheels, with a plastic head and rubber gripping mechanism to protect alloy wheels, together with a 12V wheel balancer which can be swiveled upwards when not in use to increase space inside the vehicle.
In addition to those mobiles equipped to fit car tyres, ATS Euromaster also operates a dedicated fleet of over 500 vans which are used exclusively for commercial vehicle operations, plus specialist 4x4s and flatbeds for fitting tyres in the agricultural and industrial sectors. The fleet also includes 140 car-derived vans used by the company’s team of mobile fleet inspectors and other support functions around the business.
