GoldenTyre Takes Over as SuperMoto World Championship Tyre Supplier
From 2010 Italian manufacturer GoldenTyre will replace Dunlop as the sole tyre supplier of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship, which has operated under a single tyre policy since 2006. Championship organiser Youthstream states it looks forward to it new partnership with GoldenTyre, which begins in Italy on May 2, at the first of seven Grands Prix during the 2010 FIM SuperMoto World Championship season.
“We are extremely happy to extend our partnership with Youthstream, which started in the Motocross business, to SuperMoto,” stated GoldenTyre president Marco Cavallini. “We are thankful for this opportunity we are given and we will do our best to fulfil our position of unique tyre supplier of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship. The tyre compound we have chosen is meant to increase the sliding, together with the show of the races, and reduce the costs because the tyres will cost less and last longer.”
GoldenTyre started business 25 years ago in Bientina, near the Italian city of Pisa, as a bicycle tyre manufacturer, and expanded into the areas of the Motocross and Enduro in 2001. The brand was bought by Buymec, a branch of the Cavallini-Donati group, in 2004, and the current product range covers the SuperMoto, Minicross, Enduro, Pit Bikes and Speedway segments.
