Shougang Concord Century Holdings has celebrated the completion of the first construction phase for its new steel cord facility in China’s Shandong Province. This milestone in the Tengzhou Eastern Steel Cord (TESC) plant’s development was marked by a ceremony on November 11, which was attended by dignitaries including Shougang Corporation chairman Zhu Jimin, senior company management, government officials and industry professionals.
“Today is a great day to celebrate with Shougang Century and their TESC team who have achieved a breakthrough in steel cord industry,” said Zhu Jimin during his speech at the ceremony. “We are proud of their diligence and dedication in the completion of the first phase steel cord project within only one year.”
Shougang Century chairman Cao Zhong added that “TESC will strive for 100,000 tonnes annual steel cord production capacity at the end of 2010 and TESC can be well accepted both locally and internationally. We deeply believe that the goal of construction a 200,000 tonnes class tyre cord manufacturing concern by 2011 will be materialised.”
