Dunlop Qualifier II Wins Visordown Tyre Test
Dunlop reports that the latest addition to its motorcycle range, the Qualifier II, has won Visordown’s annual winter tyre test. The popular magazine, formerly known as TWO, tested a range of premium tyres in wet and dry conditions to find the best tyre for use during cold, wet winters.
Visordown, continues Dunlop, asked all the major manufacturers to send a tyre which they believed would be suitable for a large capacity sports bike to run right through the darkest depths of winter on any type of road. Dunlop’s answer to this was the new Qualifier II tyre designed for supersport bikes. The tyre features Multi Tread compound, which is derived from technology used Dunlop’s motorsport tyres. The Birmingham based tyre maker reports this is a tyre that excels in the wet providing continuous road feedback, handling accuracy and high levels of grip, whatever the weather.
The tyres, fitted on a Honda Fireblade, were taken to Bruntingthorpe and put to the test by James Whitham, former 500GP, WSB and WSS rider and two-time BSB champion. James noted the lap times of each tyre as well as judging the overall feedback and performance each tyre provided. Whitham’s verdict on the Qualifier II, Dunlop reports, was: “… I always felt like I could make them do what I wanted to do, no snapping sideways, just a controlled smooth push……With more outright grip than even the sticky-feeling Michelins, these are the best of the bunch in pure performance terms..”
“We are thrilled to have won the Visordown annual winter tyre test,” said Dunlop product manager Bryn Phillips. “This is the second year in a row we have won this accolade, last year we won with the Roadsmart. We chose the Qualifier II tyre as it is the latest addition to our range and we knew that the credentials of the tyre would meet or even exceed the needs of the test.”
“On the launch of the tyre in March, the Qualifier II was the fastest selling tyre in Dunlop’s recent history. We hope that this is just the beginning of the Qualifier II’s success story,” Phillips added.
