Automechanika Shanghai Attracts Record Number of Exhibitors
This year Automechanika Shanghai takes place between December 9 and 11 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, China. Despite the global recession, organiser Messe Frankfurt reports the show has already set a new record with over 2,200 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, including Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and USA. As a result, the exhibition space has expanded to nine halls, with a total of more than 100,000 square metres.
“Our show is going from strength to strength and has set a new record for exhibitors and exhibition space,” points out Messe Frankfurt Shanghai general manager Jason Cao. “We have many new supporters including the Hong Kong Auto Parts Industry Association who have arranged for several Hong Kong exhibitors to display their standard parts, chassis parts and regenerates parts.”
This year Automechanika Shanghai will also feature Chinese pavilions organised by several local industry associations: The Shanghai Auto Maintenance Equip Association will have 55 member companies of automotive maintenance and equipment manufacturers displaying their latest products. Ms Chen Yi, deputy secretary general summarises: “Automechanika Shanghai is one of the industry’s most highly recognised trade fairs and it is the best place to expand our sales and marketing network.”
The Zhejiang Association of Automobile Manufacturers have organised 120 exhibitors for their 2,000 plus square metre exhibition space. Zhejiang province is China’s major auto production hub with more than 7,000 automotive parts manufacturers. Mr Fang Xi, the association’s President states: “The number of companies, production value and employment in the automotive industry sector in Zhejiang province has surpassed Shanghai, Jiangsu and Guangdong.”
The Committee for Vehicle Use Motor and Electrical Appliances of CAAM have organised 170 companies from the auto motor and electrical appliances industries for its 3,100 square metre pavilion. “The rapid growth of China’s automotive industry has become a focal point for the world,” remarks Ms Zhu Xiao Ping, the committee’s Secretary General. “Therefore, Automechanika Shanghai is a not-to-be missed trade fair for global automotive players and Chinese companies have become more mature and serious about choosing an efficient exhibition.”
Another feature of the show is the Automechanika Matchmaking Forum, which will run from 9 – 10 December 2009. This offers an exclusive opportunity for exhibitors to meet one-on-one with domestic and international buyers to explore potential business opportunities. Heads of sourcing and procurement department from nearly 20 companies from China, Iran, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa and the UAE have confirmed their attendance.
