Reitzle Takes on Conti Supervisory Board Chairmanship
Although confirmed as the man for the job in September, the tenure of Prof. Dr. Ing. Wolfgang Reitzle as chairman of Continental AG’s Supervisory Board became official as of October 19 after his election during the day’s meeting. The Supervisory Board also made two other appointments during the October 19 meeting: Wolfgang Schäfer was confirmed as a regular member of the Continental AG Executive Board. He will take up his appointment on January 1, 2010, and will be responsible for the areas of finance, controlling, IT and law. Also assuming his position on the board next January 1 is José A. Avila, who is taking over as head of the Powertrain division.
Following the meeting, the new Supervisory Board chairman noted: “With the personnel decisions made today, the Executive Board of Continental AG is now complete and well structured. This creates the basis for leading Continental on into a sustainably successful future.”
Wolfgang Schäfer studied business administration in Munich und Münster and later earned an MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. After working at several different companies, including Robert Bosch, he joined Behr GmbH & Co KG in 2001 as member of the board of management. In his current position there as Group CFO, he is responsible for the financial and controlling functions, purchasing, HR and IT. He is also CEO of Behr Germany.
José A. Avila studied engineering sciences in Bogota and Pittsburgh. He is currently general manager of Delphi’s Delphi Diesel Systems unit. He previously headed business units at Delphi that focused on innovative drive technologies, particularly in the diesel sector.
