Marangoni Makes Additions to Ringtread Winter Range
Marangoni has added two new lines to its Ringtread precure tread range – the Grip series 60 and 70 for central European climatic conditions, and the RSY397 for long distance driving in extreme conditions.
The Grip pattern for long distance applications is, says Marangoni, the right solution for snow-covered and slippery roads, such as mountain passes. The tread pattern, already tried and tested on traditional 80 series tyres, is now available for newer generation 60 and 70 series products. The tread features circumferential grooves aimed at guaranteeing driving stability, together with numerous sipes and a bridge between the cross grooves to prevent the risk of breakage inside the blocks. This combination of elements is intended to ensure longer tread life and more regular wear, especially when used for long periods outside of winter.
The all-new RSY397 is intended for use on drive axles and Marangoni recommends the tyre be fitted to the vehicle at the beginning of winter season and then used over a 12 month period: in the first phase of their life, the tread manufacturer adds, the tyres have an ‘aggressive’ pattern that ensures safe travel even in extreme conditions; subsequently, as it wears out, the tread assumes the characteristics of an all-position pattern and is thus suited to be used for the remaining months. The design features deep grooves and a wide footprint with semi-rounded shoulders to encourage good mileage and excellent stability on the road, and siping for control on wet, snow covered or icy surfaces. The RSY397 tread, approved by Yokohama, is currently available for 80 series tyres and specifically for sizes 295/80R22.5 and 315/80R22.5.
According to Marangoni, the RSY397 and Grip profiles complete the Ringtread winter range – a line-up that includes different patterns and covers various applications for all road surfaces. The range has been designed to provide specific solutions for different road conditions in winter, from the combination of wet, dry and snow-covered surfaces that is typical of central Europe, to the more difficult conditions in the northern countries.
