GITI Draws on UK Experience For German Truck Tyre Business
In January 2009 GITI Tire Europe incorporated a new UK truck tyre subsidiary, a move taken to enable the company to better focus upon the specialist needs of this market segment. The independent company took over the truck tyre business from Romney International/Compass Group (who continue to distribute GITI’s passenger car range). GITI has now decided to adopt this British model in Germany, and as of October 26 the company has taken over distribution of truck tyres in the German market from Reifen Gundlach, who had served as exclusive importer since 1994.
“We will in future concentrate upon our core passenger car tyre business and are pleased to continue our successful work with GITI Tire,” stated Gebhard Jansen, managing director of Reifen Gundlach GmbH. “As a logistics service provider for warehousing and deliveries we remain close to our partner.” Reifen Gundlach will continue to exclusively and independently market GT Radial brand passenger car tyres in Germany.
“The truck tyre market in Germany is strategically important for us,” explained Michael Andre, managing director of GITI Tire Deutschland GmbH, who in his role as the company’s European marketing director is responsible for the GT Radial brand’s development. “Therefore we have decided to expand our service and our technical consulting in the truck tyre sector, particularly with tyre dealer and fleet business. We want to establish ourselves as a solutions provider that always offers hauliers, bus companies and other logistics service providers the optimal tyres at an attractive price. We are certain that our ambitious aims will be quickly reached with this choice of structure.”
