Full Range Supplier Guizhou Tyre Introduces Flotation Tyre
For Guizhou Tyre, as one of China’s leading truck tyre specialists, CITExpo is an essential event. At this year’s exhibition in Shanghai the Guiyang, Guizhou Province based company presented a large section of its range, which is produced and marketed solely under the “Advance” brand name. “We are a full range supplier,” states assistant general manager Edward Zhang. In addition to commercial vehicle tyres the company produces radial and crossply tyres of various types, including light commercial vehicles, OTR, industrial and solid rubber. The company also manufactures passenger car tyres, although the volume produced is “very few”, Zhang admits. During the CITExpo shows Guizhou showed its new, self-produced, flotation and crane tyres for the very first time.
Guizhou Tire Co. Ltd was founded in the 1950s. The state owned enterprise was partially privatised thirteen years ago and shares of the commercial vehicle tyre specialist traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, although the government still holds a 51 per cent share in the business. Following its partial privatisation Guizhou was able to pursue a sizeable course of growth. Last year the company reported a turnover of RMB 4.374 billion (£397.3 million); in 2005 this figure was only three billion. Based on these figures, it can be seen that during the previous four years Guizhou has achieved a turnover increase of more than 45 per cent. Net profit last year was admittedly only RMB 51.2 million (£4.6 million), a scant 1.2 per cent of turnover. While many Chinese manufacturers currently are preoccupied with worries about the US market, the people at Guizhou Tyre are much more relaxed on this score as in total only 20 per cent of turnover is generated in export markets. Within Europe deliveries are made to almost every country, the assistant general manager adds.
