Etyres Reports Increased Sales Despite Recession
There may be a recession on, but without giving any specific figures away, etyres is reporting year-on-year sales growth in the last 12 months. Combining mobile fitting with a successful website, etyres describes itself as the UK’s first online tyre company. But it’s not just the company that speaks highly of itself, the most recent Plimsoll report into the UK Tyres, Exhausts & Batteries industry said etyres’ sales growth and profit margins “are better than the industry’s largest player.”
Managing director Tony Bowman, commented: “We have put down deep roots in the Internet tyres industry and this has enabled us to grow stronger and faster than our rivals. We began operating as Fleet Mobile Tyres back in 1992, but later recognised the potential to sell to the public through the exciting new market place – the Internet. Everything, from our use of familiar faces, like Eamonn Holmes and Vicki Butler-Henderson, in our videos, to our tyre price comparison chart, is aimed at showing the customer they are in the hands of experts.
Describing itself as the leading online tyre seller, etyres claims it can sell tyres to consumer up to 40 per cent cheaper than the fast fit chains. “We offer a complete package, from online ordering (but with a call centre for customers who need to speak to member of the team) to a mobile fitting service provided by teams across the country who are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and conform to the highest safety standards,” said Bowman:
“Our website set the standard and system for selling tyres on the Internet which is now used by everyone and we were the first to feature a regular price check section. We were also the first online tyre company to feature video on its website and use carefully selected celebrity endorsements to drive our message home. We are continuing to see double-digit growth on a weekly basis. Last week we broke our sales record, but this is becoming a regular occurrence for the sales team.”
Bowman told Tyres & Accessories that “Internet providers make-up a ridiculously low and almost insignificant percentage of the market, three per cent at tops.” However, this is said to show the scale of the market we operate in, because “there is also no doubt that sales our rising steeply as consumers are turning to the web to track down better deals,” Bowman added.
“Of course, the recession has played a role in our sales success too, because it has focused customers’ minds on how they spend their money. There is no doubt that the combined forces of the economic downturn, consumer confidence in ordering online and an excellent business plan have contributed to our year-on-year sales growth in the last 12 months,” he concluded.
