ETRMA Welcomes Tyre Labelling Agreement
The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA) has welcomed the European Parliament’s agreement on tyre labelling, issued 1 October. According to a statement issued by the organisation, ETRMA and its 12 leading tyre corporate members “fully support and welcome the objective of the mandatory tyre performance information requirement.”
“The European co-legislators have fully acknowledged the need for balanced approach on the kind of tyre performances on which information has to be given, by designing an integrated label, which provides both environmental (fuel efficiency and noise levels) as well as safety (wet braking) information,” the statement read, adding: “The review that will be performed 40 months after the rules come into play will have to validate whether or not the regulation targets have been reached, in particular about the relevance and effectiveness of the communication tools which are proposed today.”
