Dunlop to Help Top Gear Put on a Gripping Show
Top Gear is taking its live show around the world, with events planned in Birmingham, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Sydney, Auckland and Hong Kong. And when Clarkson, May, Hammond and Stig hit the road, they will be taking Dunlop with them: The tyre maker has announced its selection as official tyre partner for the Top Gear Live World Tour.
The first Top Gear Live Show takes place at Earl’s Court, London between November 5 and 8. The show then moves to Birmingham’s NEC – just a few miles away from the home of Dunlop’s global motorsport factory at Fort Dunlop – on November 12 for four days of action. Dunlop and the Top Gear team will then speed off to grip the world with their precision driving, thrilling action and high-octane excitement. The tour moves to Dublin’s RDS arena on December 3.
Dunlop’s presence as a key technical partner to the event will come in handy. With some of the fastest cars in the world being pushed to their mechanical limits within the confined space of indoor arenas, precision, grip and control are vital to harness the horsepower and guarantee a great show. “A show as spectacular as Top Gear Live requires serious technical partners that can provide the performance the stars and cars demand,” stated Dunlop UK brand manager Nicole Smith. “Many of the latest tyres in the Dunlop range feature Kevlar in the construction. Kevlar is a synthetic fibre five times stronger than steel and when coupled with Dunlop’s Touch Technology design ethos it produces a tyre for drivers who demand the highest levels of feedback and performance”.
The Top Gear Live show will also see the return of the iconic ‘Dunlop Bridge’. The original UK bridge, built at Donington Park in 1976, was removed as part of the circuit’s planned Grand Prix ambitions. After pressure from fans, the much-loved construction will return to the UK with the erection of a new Dunlop bridge at the show’s entrance.
