Auto Express Tests SUV Tyres
Auto Express has published the results of its latest tyre test, an evaluation of six big-selling small sports utility vehicle products, fitted in size 235/55R17 to a Toyota RAV4 at Continental’s proving ground in Uvalde, Texas. Goodyear’s Excellence (H), Conti’s CrossContact UHP (H) and Michelin’s Latitude Diamaris (H) took the top three spots respectively in a very closely fought contest.
Auto Express wrote that, “Never have we had a tyre test that has been so close. Any of the top three will do an excellent job on your car, and drivers can confidently choose a tyre based on individual strengths in the knowledge that they are solid all-round performers. The test also yielded positive news for Kumho, whose Ecsta SPT KU31 (W) edged out premium brand Pirelli’s Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico (V) into fourth place – though it should also be pointed out that both these tyres cost the least in a price comparison based on the e-Commerce website, www.etyres.co.uk. The final tyre in the comparison was Hankook’s Dynapro HP, which “struggled in this company, and needs to do a lot of work to match the standard of the best,” according to the magazine.
