Yokohama Launches Tyre Mould Business
Yokohama Rubber has established a tyre mould manufacturing and sales company through its acquisition of Hashiba Tire Mold’s tyre mould manufacturing business in July. The aim of setting up this new company, Yokohama comments, is to further reduce costs through increasing the self-supply ratio within the Yokohama Rubber group.
Capitalised at 100 million yen (£677,000), the company has its head office and plant in Japan’s Omitama City, Ibaraki Prefecture and employs 48 workers. Operation at the plant commenced in August, and focuses moulds for passenger car and truck/bus tyres. Hashiba Tire Mold continues to manufacture and sell precision casting products and various types of non-tyre moulds.
