The Trayal tyre factory is owned by Bulgarian energy tycoon, Hristo Kovachki. At the end of last year Kovachki faced similar problems with striking workers at his Serbian factories and in June workers at the Vladicin Han wrapping paper factory threatened to go on hunger strike over unpaid wages.
Sofia news agency reports that Kovachki has had 143 Bulgarian leva (£66.76 million; 73.118 million euros; $106.372 million) while he faces tax evasion allegations for four of his businesses for the period between 2005 and 2008.
