New Track/Street Tyre From Kumho

Kumho Tire USA officially unveiled its new Ecsta XS KU36, an ultra-high performance radial designed for both track and street performance. The tyre was introduced to select media yesterday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

The new Ecsta XS features a low void asymmetric tread pattern, circumferential grooving for cornering grip and water dispersion, “ultra fine carbon black compounding” for maximum traction, and a wide tread contact patch with highly rounded shoulders for optimized footprint shape during high lateral loads.

The W-rated radial was specifically developed to meet the demanding needs of autocrossing while retaining its road manners for every day street driving, Kumho said. The XS, which has a UTQG of 180 AAA, will replace the Ecsta MX and is now available in 25 sizes covering 15- to 19-inch wheel diameters. (Tire Review)
