Maxxis Recruits UK Heavy Truck Tyre Distributors
Having made headway in the UK passenger car and light truck segments, Maxxis reports that it is now on the lookout for heavy truck tyre distribution partners. The company’s main selling point (both to customers and potential distribution partners is the long term mileage performance of its products. According to the company, tests with leading UK fleets show the all-important PPM (pence per mile) figures achieved by the Maxxis 22.5 inch heavy truck range are on a par with those reported by the top brands. While the figures are not yet complete (due to the ongoing nature of the tests) company representatives told Tyres & Accessories the figures are still helping to “boost the brand’s credentials for quality, reliability and value in this sector.”
“The new super single has been well-received and for the range as a whole the PPM figures speak for themselves. Demonstrating not that Maxxis truck tyres are cheap, but rather, that they represent excellent value, they underline that we have the credentials to be a major player in this marketplace,” says Maxxis UK International managing director Derek McMartin, adding: “Sales are continuing to rise steadily on the back of the impressive customer test programme results and we are now keen to appoint distributors.”
Meanwhile, sales of Maxxis 17.5 inch and 19.5 inch van and light truck tyres are also said to be on the up. Manufactured from a premium rubber compound, the tyres are of double steel belt construction and feature continuous shoulder ribs for long life and uniformity and extra plies for improved puncture and abrasion resistance.
The Maxxis UR-275 is available in sizes 215/75R 17.5PR to 245/70R 19.5 and is said to offer “superb manoeuvrability and handling stability thanks” to its low rolling resistance and puncture-resistant casing, while the UE-168 has a 70-80 profile and jointless spiral-wrapped full nylon cap for added strength.
A practical solution for everyday use, the UE-103 enjoys a rugged tread compound formulation that resists abrasion and a rib tread design which improves water dispersal and ensures stability, especially on motorways. The Maxxis MA-751 Bravo comes in 13-16-inch sizes and is a well-established favourite amongst sports truck/pick-up/4×4 operators due to its responsive handling and optimum traction on all terrains, while the MA-703 combines responsiveness and durability to produce excellent traction in wet and dry conditions along with smooth handling at high speeds.
Maxxis steer, drive and trailer tyres come in sizes 10R22.5, 11R22.5, 12R22.5, 275/80R22.5, 295/80R22.5, 315/80R22.5 and include a 385/65R22.5 super single, the UR288, which was added to the range last winter. Maxxis van and light truck tyres (up to 17.5 inch) are available from leading independent wholesaler Grouptyre, while Maxxis 22.5 inch heavy truck tyres are available direct from Maxxis International UK.
