Maxxis-backed Japspeed Sweeps Podium at Norfolk Arena
Round Four of the British Drift Championship belonged firmly to Team Japspeed as its drivers, Danny Eyles, Shane Lynch and Steve Biagioni took to the podium having drifted successfully around the Norfolk Arena.
Following on from his first event win at the recent Prodrift Super Series, Donington, Danny Eyles brought his winning form to Norfolk, remaining undefeated. Eyles was pushed all the way by his Irish team mate Shane Lynch who delivered consecutively solid performances throughout the qualifying and twin battle rounds. In the Final, it was Lynch who made an uncharacteristic error presenting Eyles with his first British Drift Championship victory.
Eyles and Lynch were joined on the Norfolk Podium by charismatic Japspeed rookie Steve Biagioni, who defeated hard charger Julie Robinson in the battle for third position. This result will see Biagioni remain at the top of the overall British Drift Championship points table.
In front of an enthusiastic audience, Team Japspeed achieved a new first; it was the first time that one team has taken all podium positions in a British Drift Championship event. With the team all running on Maxxis MAZ1 Drift Tyres, event winner Danny Eyles believes that the extra grip yielded by these tyres was a contributing factor in the team’s success:
“We have enjoyed fantastic grip and performance recently with our new cars; proof that all of the long hours put in behind the scenes by Japspeed, Maxxis Tyres and GDA Sportscars is finally paying off. To win two major events in succession is a major achievement for me and I believe that our form, as a team, for the remaining 2009 events will deliver more success.”
Team Japspeed will next compete at the final round of the Prodrift Super Series in Mondello Park, Ireland, where another event victory for Eyles could see the UK driver take the Championship title.
Biagioni heads for Round Five of the British Drift Championship in Llandow as points leader.
