Conti to Close Alabama Plant
Continental AG plans to close its powertrain and interior components plant in Huntsville, Alabama, by the end of 2010.
According to reports, Continental made the decision after workers there voted against reopening their labour contract, which was slated to expire in 2012, as the company was seeking wage and benefit concessions. The plant is represented by the United Autoworkers and currently staffs some 975 people. (Tire Review)
