BKT-Equipped Tractor Wins World Ploughing Crown
A BKT-equipped tractor and plough has won first prize in the 2009 World Ploughing Contest (WPC) reversible category. The 56th WPC, held in Moravske Toplice, Slovenia between 4 – 5 September saw Belgian Roel Cuyvers crowned as champion in the reversible category, driving a Massey Ferguson tractor fitted with BKT-Agrimax Tractor Radials. Third prize winners – Liam O’Driscoll from Ireland in the reversible and Hardy Andersen from Denmark in Conventional category, also ploughed on BKT Agrimax tyres tractors (fitted to Lamborghini & Massey Ferguson tractors respectively).
Company representatives point out that 16 out of total 59 competitors (representing a majority of more than 27 per cent), selected BKT Agrimax tyres as their preferred choice for the same. The Indian-based tyre manufacturer reports that it, as this year’s Bronze sponsor, is “proud to be associated with the event and expresses it’s gratitude towards all the competitors that chose BKT tyres on their tractors, trusting the excellent performance of BKT products for this tough and competitive event.”
The first World Ploughing Contest dates back to 1953; and the competition is an important event in the worldwide agriculture and rural development calendar.
