Union OKs New Contract With Michelin
United Steelworkers locals approved a new three-year master contract with Michelin North America. The pact covers some 2,500 workers at MNA’s plants in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
“We are pleased that our facilities have ratified the agreement,” said Dave Lowe, MNA vice president of employee and labor relations. “The new agreement is geared toward improving flexibility and reducing operating costs significantly over the life of the contract, giving these plants the chance they need to compete in a highly competitive market.”
“It is critical that the company work together with our employees and the USW to improve the competitiveness of these plants for the mutual benefit of the employees, the company and the communities,” he said. (Tire Review/Akron)
