Customers to Receive Increased Support Through OTR/County Tyres JV
Earthmover tyre users in Southwest England and South Wales will benefit from enhanced service following the formation of a new company. OTR Tyres Ltd and the County Tyres Group Ltd have expanded their operations through the formation of County OTR Tyres, and this new company will operate regional service hubs in Taffs Well (Cardiff), Bristol, Launceston and Frome, along with a new service site planned for West Wales.
“What this means for customers is an increased support network with enhanced earthmover tyre operations throughout the regions,” commented Graeme Manning, OTR commercial director and managing director of the new company. “The formation of County OTR Tyres brings together the two main operators in the South West and Wales to enhance the service that is provided. The combination of local knowledge, experience, resources and global best practice will not only benefit our customers, but the industry as a whole.”
In the years since its establishment in 1937 County Tyres Group has expanded its operations to become one of the largest independent tyre distributors in the United Kingdom. Founded by Arthur Peters and his wife, the company grew from its original Bristol base with a depot opening in Wales, followed by a further four opening around the West Country. The company now handles car, truck, agriculture and industrial tyres as well as their earthmover market share. OTR Tyres was established in 1977 and has grown from a company with three tyre fitters serving the open cast coal industry in England to the largest earthmover tyre supplier in the UK. OTR now operate from 18 different sites across Britain, supplying some 3500 earthmover tyres to the Quarry, Plant Hire, Coal and Waste Sectors. Based near Alfreton, Derbyshire OTR operates from a 5.75 acre site that houses a purpose built retreading facility offering quality retread tyres.
“From the initial discussions with OTR it was clear that our objectives for the region were similar, to provide our earthmover tyre customers with the best products and service available,” said County Tyres managing director Brian Duguid. “By combining the facilities, resources, systems, health and safety and training and of course experience of both companies we are able to do this.”
