Smithers Promotes REACH Seminars

With the 30 November 2010 deadline fast approaching, Smithers is promoting its series of compliance seminars. According to the testing and research organisation, for many months attention has been focussed on the submission of lead registration dossiers to ECHA. However a new harmonised system for the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) has brought with it equally demanding deadlines.

Smithers reports that the impact of CLP on REACH could be “vast” with “more substances expected to be classified as hazardous, and disagreements on data, classification and labelling and opt-outs from SIEFs becoming a real possibility.”

Smitters’ scheduled meetings include: Managing SVHCs under REACH – 27 January in Brussels; Understanding and Implementing CLP – 28 January, Brussels; and REACH USA 2010 – 13-14 April, Chicago.
